Across Michigan many children are returning to School. For our little ones, its the First Day of School, as they ride the bus for the first time, Say good morning to a teacher for the first time, and meet new friends for the first time. It's a new day in their lives.
I spent the morning doing a Masonic Funeral Service for one of my stalwart Lodge Brothers, who laid down the working tools of life for the last time. His is also a new day, never to worry again about the cares of the world, but a new life, a spiritual eternity with God. I know from the life he lived that things of the world were not as important as people. As it should be. A big family is sad tonight, but I know there are great memories being shared and laughter around the table.
Tomorrow my friends, is a new day for you. It brings with it opportunity. A new day, a fresh slate, a chance to make the best of what we have. smile at a co-worker, wave to a stranger, let the car trying to get into the lane go ahead of you. Love one another.
